The Bright Smiles Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing joy, learning, and opportunity to underprivileged children through the gift of gently used books and toys. We believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to the tools that nurture curiosity, spark creativity, and foster development. By collecting and redistributing educational and play resources, we aim to promote literacy, encourage imagination, and support emotional well-being. With every book and toy donated, we’re helping build brighter futures—one smile at a time.
How It All Began…
One thing many people remember fondly is their childhood.
And what made our own childhoods so special? Books that took us on adventures. Toys that sparked our imagination.
But we realized not every child gets those same opportunities.
That’s why we started The Bright Smiles Project—to help bring joy, learning, and possibility to children who might otherwise go without.
We began by collecting gently used books and toys from families who had plenty—items their children had outgrown but still had so much love to give.
What started as a small act of giving has grown into a mission to share smiles, stories, and second chances with children in need—all through the simple, powerful gift of a book or toy.

Donations of Books & Toys
We collect donations of gently used books and toys from families whose children have outgrown them. These donations are cleaned, sorted, and passed on to children in need, bringing joy, comfort, and opportunities to learn.
Partnerships & Community Centers
We’ve partnered with shelters, schools, and other nonprofits to make sure these items reach the children who need them most. Together, we’re helping build safe, playful, and imaginative environments where every child can thrive
Made to Smile
Every child deserves to feel special on their birthday. Through our Made to Smile program, we make that happen—by delivering birthday gifts, surprises, and joyful experiences to children living in shelters or underserved communities.
Whether it’s a favorite toy, a book they’ve wished for, or a celebration they’ve never had before, every birthday we support is made to feel magical.
